Have health-related questions and need to access them at any time? Get help by dialing 811 or chatting online 24/7 and connect with a registered nurse for free, secure, confidential health advice.

eVisit Ontario Health

Unable to visit your doctor in person? Connect with your health care provider via secure video from your local health centre, your computer at home, or on the go via tablet or smartphone with eVisit. OTN services are free for patients through your healthcare provider. Ask your doctor if they are an option for you. Visit their site to learn more.

Sexual Health Infoline Ontario (SHILO)

Have questions and need information on sexual health? The Sexual Health Infoline Ontario (SHILO) is a free, anonymous, and inclusive eChat and phone service for Ontario residents. Call or eChat from anywhere in Ontario to speak with a live counsellor in different languages.

Things You Should Know

OHIP does not cover the cost of going to the hospital by ambulance. You will have to pay some of the cost.

Emergency Services

In case of an emergency or to report a crime, call 9-1-1 to reach the Police, Fire, or Ambulance. When you call 9-1-1, the operator will ask if you require ambulance, fire, or police assistance. Learn more about when to call 9-1-1 or whom to call for non-emergencies.

Apply for a health card

Apply for a health card at a ServiceOntario centre as soon as possible with the required documentation. Currently, there is no longer a waiting period for OHIP coverage. If you are eligible, you will have immediate health insurance coverage.

Update vaccinations

Always remember to keep your family's vaccination up-to-date. You can see the Ontario Immunization schedule here. 

Urgent pediatric care

If you need urgent care for your children and live within the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). You can access Pediatric Urgent Care; they have late hours.

School immunizations

Routine school vaccines are free if received at a Peel Public Health clinic. You will need to book an appointment. Walk-ins are not available. 

Covered medication under the Ontario Drug Benefit Program


Check to see if your medication is covered. You will need the medication name, ingredient, or DIN (Drug Identification Number).

CCS Women Resources

Access our resources to help you navigate the community and address your questions.

The resources are predominantly based within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), specifically the Peel Region. Site users are encouraged to practice due diligence regarding services and content and be especially mindful of the eligibility criteria should they choose to access any of the resources.
